Getting Started
Overview
LinkFlow is a production-focused Blender add-on for managing linked libraries. It provides a centralized dashboard to monitor, organize, repair, and analyze every external .blend reference in your project — helping you stay on top of complex asset pipelines.
System Requirements
- Blender 4.5 through 5.2 LTS
- Windows, macOS, or Linux
- No external dependencies required
- Supports linked files: .blend, .abc, .usd, .vdb
Installation
- Download from the Blender Extensions platform or your provider.
- Open Blender → Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → Install from Disk.
- Select the downloaded .zip file.
- Enable "LinkFlow" in the add-on list.
- The LinkFlow panel appears in the Scene Properties panel.
Interface Overview
The LinkFlow dashboard lives in the Scene Properties panel and is organized into 7 sections:
- Libraries — Browse, search, sort, and filter all linked libraries
- Details — Full information for selected library (health, path, file size, counts, dependency graph)
- Health — Project health score, issues detection (missing paths, broken overrides, unused libs, duplicates)
- Statistics — Total objects/collections/overrides/instances, per-library breakdowns
- Overrides — Create, inspect (compare properties), select/highlight, remove with undo
- Dependencies — Objects, collections, instances, overrides per library
- Reports — Health, Library, Missing, Override, Dependency, Scene Summary — CSV export
Version History
- 3.0.0 — Major overhaul with cached stats, optimized index maps, production error handling, full undo support
- 2.x — Dashboard, health, overrides, batches, views, presets, snapshots, CSV
- 1.x — Initial release
Tips
- All operations register with undo (Ctrl+Z) — don't be afraid to experiment.
- Use the search bar to quickly find libraries by name or path.
- Pin frequently used libraries to keep them at the top of your list.
- Assign ownership tags early in the pipeline to track responsibilities.
- Run a health check before rendering to catch issues early.
- Export CSV reports regularly for project documentation.
Next Steps
