Version Control
Overview
LinkFlow provides project snapshot capabilities and version tracking for linked assets. These features help you capture the state of your project at a point in time and monitor how source files change over time.
Project Snapshots
Snapshots capture the complete link state of your project, including:
- All linked library paths (with relative/absolute settings)
- Current health status of every link
- Active overrides and their property values
- Library groups and custom view configurations
Create a snapshot before major edits to have a fallback point. Snapshots are stored in the LinkFlow cache directory.
Custom Views & Presets
Save and restore your LinkFlow dashboard layout:
- Configure which sections are visible and their order.
- Apply filters, sorting, and grouping preferences.
- Save as a named preset and switch between presets as needed.
- Restore default view at any time.
Change Detection History
When Live Mode is active, LinkFlow tracks changes to linked files:
- Timestamps of when changes were detected.
- Which data-blocks were modified (when available from file metadata).
- History of auto-reload events for audit purposes.
Configuration
Version and snapshot settings are in Edit → Preferences → Add-ons → LinkFlow:
- Max snapshots — How many snapshots to retain (default: 20, range: 5–100).
- Snapshot frequency — How often LinkFlow auto-snapshots in Live Mode.
- Cache directory — Where snapshots and change history are stored. Must be on a local disk.
