Node Setup

Overview

Texture Pipeline Studio automates PBR texture assignment by connecting your texture maps directly to the Principled BSDF shader. No shader networks are rebuilt — the add-on simply assigns image nodes to the correct inputs, preserving any existing node setups.

Supported Map Connections

  • Base Color — Connected to Base Color input
  • Normal — Connected via Normal Map node to Normal input
  • Roughness — Connected to Roughness input
  • Metallic — Connected to Metallic input
  • Height / Displacement — Connected to Material Output displacement
  • Opacity / Alpha — Connected to Alpha input with blend mode

How Assign Textures Works

  1. Select the material in the Shader Editor or Properties panel.
  2. Set the Texture Library path in the Scene Properties panel.
  3. Click Assign Textures.
  4. The add-on finds matching maps by filename keywords and connects them to the Principled BSDF.
  5. Color space is automatically set: Base Color → sRGB, all others → Non-Color.

Map Detection

The add-on uses naming conventions to auto-detect map types. Supported keywords include:

BaseColor, Albedo, Diffuse, Color → Base Color
Normal, NormalGL, NormalDX, NRM → Normal
Roughness, Rough → Roughness
Metallic, Metalness, Metal → Metallic
Height, Disp, Displacement → Height / Displacement
Opacity, Alpha → Opacity

Preserving Shader Networks

The add-on does NOT rebuild or replace your shader network. It only assigns image texture nodes to the corresponding Principled BSDF inputs. Any custom node groups, math nodes, or additional connections you have made remain intact.
