Troubleshooting
Add-on Not Appearing
Symptoms: After installation, Texture Pipeline Studio does not appear in the Scene Properties panel or in Edit → Preferences → Add-ons.
- Verify the .zip was not extracted before installing — Blender expects the raw .zip.
- Check that you're running Blender 3.6 or later.
- Restart Blender after installation. Some extension registrations require a full restart.
- Search for "Texture Pipeline" in the add-on search bar — it may be disabled.
No Textures Found in Library
Symptoms: The Texture Library folder is set but no textures are detected.
- Ensure your folder structure matches the expected pattern: a root folder with resolution subfolders (e.g.,
Textures/8K/Wood/). - Supported formats: PNG, JPEG, TIFF, EXR, BMP, TGA, WebP.
- Filenames must be identical across all resolution folders for the add-on to recognize them as LODs.
- Click Refresh to reload the texture list after making changes to the library.
FAQ — Does it rebuild shaders?
No. Texture Pipeline Studio connects texture image nodes to the existing Principled BSDF shader without modifying or rebuilding the shader network. Your existing node setups are preserved.
FAQ — Does it support Substance Painter exports?
Yes, as long as the filenames match the supported map naming conventions. Substance Painter's default export templates can be configured to output files compatible with Texture Pipeline Studio.
FAQ — Does it modify original textures?
No. The add-on reads textures from disk and references them in Blender's image data-blocks. It never writes to or modifies the original texture files on disk.
Wrong Color Space
Symptoms: Textures appear washed out or overly saturated in the rendered viewport after assignment.
- Verify the auto-detection results — each file shows its assigned color space.
- Manual override: click the color space badge next to any file to cycle through sRGB, Non-Color, and Linear.
- Normal maps must always be Non-Color. Roughness, Metallic, Height, and Opacity should also be Non-Color.
- Base Color and Albedo maps should be sRGB.
Memory Errors with Large Libraries
Symptoms: Blender crashes or shows "MemoryError" when switching to high-resolution LODs.
- Close other applications to free up system memory.
- Avoid storing 16K or 32-bit float textures if not needed.
- Ensure at least 2× the total texture size is free on disk.
